Madeleine Wood

April 11 - 24
Opening Reception: April 11, 1-3 PM

Madeleine Wood's paintings evoke a sense of intimacy. She chooses to include the viewer in private moments that could be snapshots of memories or fantasies. She captures the play of tension and release in her figurative works, while in her landscapes focuses on tiny details such as the curl of Arbutus bark.

Born in BC, Madeleine Wood studied Fine Arts at Emily Carr Institute of Art and earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Concordia University in 1996. Her work has been collected extensively in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and Europe, and has appeared in shows at Madrona Gallery (2012 & 2014), Ian Tan Gallery, Vancouver (2010), Galerie Bourget, Montreal (1996), and the CBC Television Studios in Vancouver (2003). She has won the Liguitex Excellence in Art University Award in 1994, and the Concordia University Graduate Studio Art Advisory Incoming Student Award in 1993.
