Nathan Birch

Nathan Birch was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1978. In 2000, Birch earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alberta College of Art and Design. Birch's work has been exhibited across Canada and is held in both public and corporate collections across North America including; Canada Council for the Arts; Colart Collection, Montreal; Alberta Foundation for the Arts; Scotia Bank; TD Bank and Effort Trust, Toronto.
"My aim is that through seeing my work, the observer is taken through the wall and into the scene I’ve depicted - but not as smoothly and effortlessly as they may be accustomed to - or at least not as naively. Yet it is exactly because of this awareness that I choose to paint - to interpret and express my surroundings in a manner which shows people a new way to see and understand their world critically, without preconceptions."
