This exhibition surveys three of Tanabe’s most well known bodies of work; West Coast, The Land, and White Series. Over the last three years paintings have been sourced through private collections, auctions and dealers bringing together key works from each of these series.

Tanabe has helped shape the cultural landscape of Canadian Art. His paintings are held in important public collections around the globe. He is a recipient of the Order of Canada, Order of British Columbia, a member of the Royal Canadian Academy and the recipient of numerous awards including the Governor General’s Award in Visual Arts and the the Audain Prize: two leading arts awards in the country. His philanthropy has changed the lives of many artists through the establishment of the Takao Tanabe Award. Tanabe is truly a Canadian arts icon.
