E.J. Hughes: Works on Paper

July 10 - 24

Madrona Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works on paper by E.J. Hughes, one of British Columbia's most recognized historic artists. This collection of drawings, watercolours and woodblock prints span the artist's career from the 1940's to 2000's. Drawings range from early quick sketches to finished renderings used for major works. Watercolours of both coastal and interior scenes show Hughes technical mastery of the medium and are prime examples of why he was one of Canada's leading artists of the 20th century.

Many of these important works are new to market from the artist's estate. Others have been sourced from private collections around the country. We appreciate Robert Amos' extensive research that went into the works included in this exhibition and for his contribution to the catalogue.
