Frances Semple

B. 1956

Frances Semple was born in Scotland and grew up in southern Ontario. After high school she moved to Toronto to study sculpture and mould making at OCAD University which included an exchange program in Florence Italy and a term studying at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. After college she worked as a scenic artist in theatre and the film business while maintaining her own art practice. In 1989 Semple moved to Vancouver to concentrate on her own work and to continue her studies, completing her BFA at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She currently has her studio in Victoria BC.
