Schumm is an internationally exhibiting artist who has developed a broad base of collectors through his commitment to travelling to remote locations around the world to paint. produced an acclaimed series of work from the northern wilderness of Canada to Antarctica and back. He started his career in Alberta and now calls Vancouver Island home.

Frances Semple was born in Scotland and grew up in southern Ontario. After high school she moved to Toronto to study sculpture and mould making at OCAD University which included an exchange program in Florence Italy and a term studying at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. After college she worked as a scenic artist in theatre and the film business while maintaining her own art practice.
In 1989 Semple moved to Vancouver to concentrate on her own work and to continue her studies, completing her BFA at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She currently has her studio in Victoria BC.

This annual holiday exhibition brings together staff favourites and new works by gallery artists to showcase the diversity of voices and styles from artists across the country. The exhibition will rotate weekly to highlight work from each of the gallery's artists, and includes a selection of important historic Canadian works from the gallery's collection.

Lesley Finlayson’s work captures scenes of coastal BC landscape with a light touch and gestural energy, highlighting the ephemeral beauty of seasonal growth and changing light. This new exhibition of paintings and drawings highlights her ability to translate the deft mark-making of her pastel studies into richly atmospheric acrylics. Her work is featured in public and private collections throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Austro-Canadian painter Ernestine Tahedl has been exhibiting in Canada and abroad for over 50 years. Her vibrant abstract canvases draw the viewer into an immersive experience of colour, texture and light. Named for pieces of classical music she listens to while painting, her works are a paradoxical balance of painterly freedom and underlying rhythmic structure.
