Samonie Toonoo began sculpting in his early 20s with a focus on depicting animals and figurative subjects. In his more recent works he explores social issues and more abstact concepts with his sculptures. He is the son if graphic artist Sheojuk and carver Toonoo and the brother of sculptor Ouloo Tunnillie and sculptor/drawer Jutai Toonoo.
